Former third round pick Brennan Williams headed to WWE (Shutdown Corner)

On Tuesday, the Patriots announced they had signed offensive lineman Brennan Williams to their practice squad. It was a homecoming for Williams, whose father, Brent, who spent the first eight years of his 11-year NFL career playing on the Patriots' defenisve line. Brennan went to high school in Massachusetts.

But after two days and one practice, Brennan Williams was released by New England on Thursday.

Williams hasn't played a meaningful game in quite some time - after his career at North Carolina, he was a third-round pick of the Texans in 2013 but spent his rookie season on injured reserve.
