One of the byproducts of having the same starting quarterback for nearly two decades has been the sheer number of backups who have rotated in and out over the years. Tom Brady’s reign in New England has been so long that his original backup is approaching a decade since he was in the NFL.
But for Damon Huard, who played in New England from 2001 to 2003 and retired after the 2008 season, life away from football has suited him just fine. Now in a role at the University of Washington, Huard is also a co-owner of Passing Time Winery with fellow ex-NFL quarterback Dan Marino.
