Former OC Alex Van Pelt lands vague role in L.A., joins fellow Patriots castoff

Former New England Patriots coach Alex Van Pelt has landed a new job -- and it looks to be a step down from his previous gig as an offensive coordinator.

On Monday, the Los Angeles Rams announced that Van Pelt had been hired as a senior offensive assistant under head coach Sean McVay. It’s unclear where Van Pelt will fit in, whether it’s alongside or serving under offensive coordinator Mike LeFleur

It’s a vaguely defined role that was announced in a strange manner. In the Rams' official announcement, Van Pelt was listed as a member of the defensive staff.
