Former New England Patriots wide receiver Tre Nixon announced his retirement from the NFL Monday on his Instagram.
The 26-year-old was drafted during the 2021 NFL Draft in the seventh round at No. 242 by the Patriots. Nixon was drafted out of the University of Central Florida where he played three seasons. He dealt with a shoulder injury in his final season in Florida, playing four games and totaling 19 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns.
Nixon was known as Ernie Adams’ final draft pick before he announced his retirement from New England.
“Football has been a huge part of my life for the past 20 years,” Nixon wrote.
