Fourth-round pick Shaq Mason has been the starting left guard for every open practice and all four preseason games, so he’s had plenty of opportunities to prove himself. Now, with center Bryan Stork out for at least seven games with a concussion, the debate seems to be whether Mason is good enough for prime time or the Pats need to use Ryan Wendell or Josh Kline in his place.
Every one of Mason’s preseason snaps has been under the microscope here, and my belief is he is more than ready to start tomorrow against the Steelers. Mason is inconsistent, for sure, but every lineman has made a few mistakes this preseason.
