Evolving wide receiver market is good news for the Patriots ahead of NFL free agency

The New England Patriots are actively trying to upgrade their wide receiver position this offseason, hoping to find a true No. 1 option to pair with young quarterback Drake Maye. They do have the resources to make a splash — over $130 million in salary cap space plus four top-100 draft picks — but the market presented itself as quite tricky initially.

The situation has changed over the course of the week, however, and the receiver market evolving has to be welcome news to the Patriots’ ears.

The first domino to fall was, of course, Cincinnati Bengals wideout Tee Higgins getting the franchise tag for a second straight year.
