Less than 24 hours after a victory in the preseason opener at Ford Field against the New York Giants, the Detroit Lions have implemented some changes to their roster. On Saturday, the franchise announced that they have waived cornerback Tae Hayes.
Hayes, who officially joined the Lions on Aug. 4, was on the field during Friday’s victory, recording one tackle. Despite the roster cut deadline being weeks away, it seems that the franchise has determined that they have seen enough from the Appalachian State prospect to warrant letting him go.
Prior to becoming a member of the Lions, Hayes, a 2022 USFL champion with the Birmingham Stallions, had various NFL experiences with teams such as the Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, and New England Patriots.
