Undefeated and vying for the No. 1 seed in the 2015 AFC playoffs, the Denver Broncos landed aging tight end Vernon Davis Monday and, apparently, were close to swinging a deal for Cleveland Browns tackle Joe Thomas before Tuesday's 4 p.m. trade deadline.
The successful trade -- and also the one that fell through -- provides a clear indication of how John Elway and the Broncos view themselves. They have a one-year window, and they are doing everything possible to give themselves a chance against the freight train that is New England.
How desperate are they to win now?
