The full-contact work for the Patriots lasted just one day as the team was back in shorts, T-shorts and shells on Wednesday. In addition to the decrease in intensity that comes without pads, there also seemed to be a noticeable drop in tempo.
Most of the full team work came under controlled conditions with most of the passes from Cam Newton and Mac Jones winding up in the hands of their receivers despite the presence of coverage on many occasions.
That changed a bit during 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 periods during the later portion of practice when the defense seemed to step up its intensity level a bit and really gave the quarterbacks trouble.
