Former New England Patriots defensive tackle Davon Godchaux is headed back home to the state of Louisiana.
On Monday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Patriots had agreed to send the veteran defensive lineman to the New Orleans Saints in a trade for a seventh-round draft pick. A move was imminent after the team granted Godchaux permission to seek a trade.
They ultimately landed on a deal with the Saints.
The trade came less than a year after the Patriots signed Godchaux to a two-year contract extension. He had started in all but one game since he initially signed with the team back in 2021.
