The New Orleans Saints defensive interior was a weakness of the team last year, so it is not shocking that it was one of the first things they addressed this offseason. Rather than scouring the market in free agency, the worked out a trade with the New England Patriots of defensive lineman Davon Godchaux. He is a Plaquemine, La. native that played his college ball with the LSU Tigers. He will be returning home for his ninth NFL season.
While he hasn't been a Pro Bowl player on the inside, he has been a consistently solid presence and has been one of the more reliable players at the position.
