Damaris Johnson’s game may bring many happy returns

FOXBORO — A close look at Damaris Johnson’s resume reveals some production, some potential.

But what most entices the Patriots about what the 5-foot-8, 170-pound receiver can bring is the right fit for an injury-plagued offense that has gone from explosive to average.

Injuries at wide receiver (Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Aaron Dobson), running back (Dion Lewis) and tight end (Rob Gronkowski) have left the Pats looking for answers on offense and special teams.

On Sunday night in Denver, not only did Tom Brady miss the combination of crossing routes over the middle with Edelman and Amendola, but Chris Harper’s fumbled punt in the fourth quarter was the spark the Broncos needed to rally for the overtime win.
