The New England Patriots will have an open competition for their starting quarterback job this summer. Entering training camp, however, there is a clear hierarchy at the position: it’s Jacoby Brissett at the top, with the other three passers lining up behind him on the depth chart.
Head coach Jerod Mayo made this clear during his pre-training camp press conference on Tuesday morning.
“Coming out of the spring I don’t think there’s any doubt: Jacoby is the starting quarterback at this point in time,” Mayo told reporters in the Gillette Stadium media workroom.
“We can look at these other quarterbacks on the roster — at the same time, it’s about competition.
