Any trade the New England Patriots orchestrate before the Nov. 5 deadline would require them to give up something in return.
But the Patriots could add to their roster — and a familiar face at that — in the very near future without having to give up anything.
The Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday announced they released defensive tackle Lawrence Guy. Guy, who is in his 14th season in the NFL, signed a one-year deal worth $1.2 million with the Bengals in free agency after spending seven seasons with the Patriots.
Guy was a respected veteran in the Patriots locker room and a key cog in the defensive line during during his time with the franchise.
