A youngster at the NFA 7v7 East Regional seemed to think that because New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton is nearing free agency that he’s about to be poor. That’s usually not how it works in NFL free agency, but even if it were, the teen must not have been aware that only 14 players in NFL history have been paid more for playing football than the former Auburn All-American.
As the youngster persisted in reminding Newton of his supposedly impending poverty, the quarterback responded: “I’m rich.”
Newton will become a free agent unless he re-signs with the Patriots before the NFL’s 2021 business year begins on March 17.
