Cam Newton stays accountable and upbeat after first real adversity with Patriots | Chris Mason

FOXBOROUGH — It ended with a ball whizzing past N’Keal Harry.

Facing fourth-and-10 with a minute to play, the Patriots were in striking distance, Harry got open as a blitz surged into the pocket, and Cam Newton missed him. Whether miscommunication or misfire, the two weren’t on the same page. Game over.

It took until mid-October, but Newton finally played poorly in a Patriots loss.

The quarterback threw a pair of interceptions, held the ball too long on a handful of sacks, and posted a passer rating of 51.6. At home, New England only put up 12 points against a Denver defense that allowed 28 to the New York Jets their last time out.
