There will be no cross-country food bet this year.
Gov. Charlie Baker is instead putting his and his staff’s time on the line in a Super Bowl wager with his California counterpart, Gov. Gavin Newsom.
If the Los Angeles Rams pull off an upset over the New England Patriots this Sunday, the Massachusetts governor and his staff will volunteer at a local charity. And likewise, should the Patriots win, Newsom says he and his staff will spend time volunteering at a local California charity.
The bet, which Baker’s office announced Friday afternoon, did not specify the amount of time either side would volunteer.
