The joke making the rounds last night at Salem State University is that this was the logical place for Tom Brady to make his first public appearance since the release of the Wells Report.
Salem, after all, is famous for witch hunts.
But the embattled Patriots quarterback received nothing but love — and a thunderous ovation — when he was introduced at the acclaimed Salem State Series, which has hosted speakers as diverse as former President George H.W. Bush, playwright Tony Kushner, talk-show host Jay Leno and, yes, Patriots coach Bill Belichick.
