Buckley: If history serves, ball scandal won’t deflate Brady’s legacy

One of the exciting new cottage industries that’s been spun out of Deflategate is the quest to determine Tom Brady’s “legacy.”

Specifically, we want to know if it has been “tarnished.”

It’s a fascinating question, but it’s a question to which there can be no true answer. Leastways, not for many, many years. And in the spirit of hoping Brady lives a spectacularly long life after his football days are over, a lot of us won’t be around when the obit writers offer us their collective take on the life and times of ol’ No. 12.

But I do have some good news for Patriots fans: If a couple of visits to the history books offer us any guidance, it’s that Brady’s legacy will get a fresh coat of paint when his day comes.
