Less than a week after being released, Brian Lewerke is officially a member of the New England Patriots again.
The former Michigan State quarterback re-signed with the team on Thursday. That was after the Patriots waived the rookie undrafted free agent on Sunday.
Lewerke is one of four quarterbacks on the roster, along with Cam Newton, former Spartan Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham. Lewerke signed with the Patriots after going undrafted this year. Newton, a former NFL MVP, signed with the team in July. New England is looking to replace Tom Brady after the six-time Super Bowl winner left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the offseason.
