FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- After trading Brandin Cooks, do the New England Patriots have a pressing need to add another top-of-the-line wide receiver?
No.
That might be a minority opinion, but while the Patriots aren't as talented at the position today as they were with Cooks, they still have a strong-enough depth chart that features two proven players in their system, as well as three former first-round draft picks.
The team will obviously fill out its depth chart to create some more competition -- perhaps free-agent visitor Jordan Matthews is part of that approach -- but the feeling here is that any addition would have a challenge ahead of them to earn a roster spot.
