EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Tom Brady has a screw loose. Maybe more.
That’s part of what makes him great, part of why he is unique. It’s also why he played the entire first half last night during the Patriots’ 17-9 loss to the Giants in the preseason finale even though the starting offensive linemen were pulled to the bench one by one and the Giants defense was comprised almost entirely of backups.
Brady completed 16-of-26 passes for 166 yards, one touchdown and one interception and departed with a 6-3 lead. He was on the field for 36 offensive plays, which greatly exceeded his workload in his other four appearances in preseason finales (2002, 2003, 2010 and 2011).
