Cris Carter actually did a service to all of you who might have wondered why so many young NFL players these days end up on police blotters rather than sports pages. They didn’t have a fall guy.
Carter urged the class of 2014 to find such a person if they had a “crew” during a spirited lecture at the NFL’s annual rookie symposium. He didn’t urge them to be responsible for their actions. He urged them to find somebody else to be responsible for their actions.
Privately, this isn’t an unusual point of view in NFL circles.
