New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick is a big part of New York Giants history, and not just as a victim. When he opened his Wednesday conference call with Giants writers by referencing the Ann Mara and Frank Gifford uniform patches the Giants are wearing this year, it was clear that his time with the Giants meant a great deal to Belichick. He was a member of the team's coaching staff from 1979-90, the final six of those years as defensive coordinator.
So when asked in his Friday news conference about the blocking ability of current Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, it's no surprise that Belichick reached back into his Giants past for a comparison.
