Bill Belichick on visit to Annapolis: 'It's always great to be home'

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick was a surprise guest at the Touchdown Club of Annapolis' annual banquet on Thursday night, presenting an award named in honor of his late father, Steve.

Highlights of Belichick's appearance were chronicled by Bill Wagner of the Capital Gazette, with video of Belichick's speech also included.

"It's always great to be home," Belichick said as part of his opening remarks, noting that it was the 62nd annual dinner and it's come a long way since modest beginnings.

The Touchdown Club of Annapolis created the Steve Belichick Coach's Award after Steve Belichick died in November 2005, with the award honoring coaches who made a major impact beyond the football field.
