Last month, former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick shockingly accepted a job as the head coach at the University of North Carolina, leaving his NFL past behind for the college game where he'll coach for the first time in his career.

Since then, Belichick's been filling out his staff, and he keeps bringing over past and present members of the Patriots, including current director of football development Chris Mattes (per Sports Illustrated's Mike Kadlick).

Mattes joined New England's staff as player operations and engagement coordinator in 2017 and rose up to his current position this past year.
