FOXBOROUGH — A summer at Gillette Stadium isn’t just fun and games.
“We’re not having watermelon rolls and badminton contests and all that,” coach Bill Belichick told reporters before practice Tuesday. “We’re working on football.”
A watermelon roll — officially branded “Wattamelon Roll” by Friendly’s — is a sherbet-ice cream hybrid that, when cut, looks like a semicircle slice of the classic summer fruit. The “rind” is lemon sherbet and the “seeds” are chocolate chips.
But Belichick isn’t preoccupied with the details of the seasonal treat.
He’s focused on establishing New England’s 53-man roster — a task that involves monitoring the decisions of other organizations.
