Jonathan Freeny signed with the New England Patriots in the 2015 offseason.
Since then, he has re-signed twice.
The latest extension runs through the 2018 season. It was first reported by The Boston Globe's Ben Volin. Freeny should now be considered a roster lock for the 2016 season. He projects as the No. 3 linebacker behind Dont'a Hightower and Jamie Collins. On a conference call Saturday, Bill Belichick doled out some praise for the Rutgers product. "Jonathan is a very dependable player; he is able to do a lot of different roles for us," Belichick said.
