Belichick and Saban leave Patriots and Alabama respectively: Crowquill

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Two G.O.A.T.s of the coaching profession are stepping down from the institutions where they made their reputations. Bill Belichick is leaving the New England Patriots after 23 years and six Super Bowl championships. Nick Sabin is leaving Alabama after 17 years and seven national titles (six were won at Alabama).

Saban was Belichick’s defensive coordinator from 1991-1994 when ‘The Hoody’ coached the Browns. Since then each man has grown a coaching tree that branches throughout the NFL and NCAA football.

The two old G.O.A.T.s probably have few regrets, but Belichick’s might be Tom Brady going to Tampa and winning a Super Bowl.
