After failing to get some desperate team to cough up draft assets for Andy Dalton, the Bengals finally cut their losses and released their long-time starter Thursday.
With unproven fourth-round pick Jarrett Stidham penciled in as the starter in New England, the Patriots seem like an obvious for Dalton. He checks all of the boxes we assume Bill Belichick has on his QB checklist. He’s a smart veteran who is fairly accurate and generally takes care of the football. The 32-year-old is also better than the two quarterbacks the Pats currently have on the roster.
Most importantly, Dalton should be cheap.
