Algonquin's Rafael Knapp became the second wrestler to capture a New England championship in school history, defeating Hope's Iseal Perez, 10-7, in the final round of the 170-pound bracket to take the title on Saturday in Providence.
Knapp defeated Minnechaug's Liam Meeker in 2:48 in his first match, then followed up with a 12-5 decision over Nicholas Baccala to advance to the quarterfinals, where he pinned Methuen's Joseph Bolduc in 3:24.
Monty Tech's Jonah Paulino finished third at 132 pounds, losing to Killingly's Kaden Ware, 4-0.
Northbridge's Anthony Vickers competed at 113 pounds, but lost to La Salle Academy's Ryan Conlan by decision, 5-0, in a quarterfinal.
