One of the highest-profile Patriots coaches from the disastrous 2024 season is apparently not going to be back with the team next fall.
Alex Van Pelt, the Patriots’ offensive coordinator during quarterback Drake Maye’s rookie campaign, won’t be returning for a second season, according to MassLive’s Chris Mason and Mark Daniels.
Van Pelt, 54, arrived in New England a year ago alongside first-year head coach Jerod Mayo. Unfortunately for both, the 2024 season proved to be a debacle. The Patriots’ offense labored to both move the ball and score, finishing 30th in points and 31st in total yards.
