FOXBORO, Mass. -- New England Patriots first-year offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt clearly has been impressed with rookie quarterback Drake Maye.
But when reflecting on Maye's progress since the start of training camp, one aspect of Maye's summer has stood out as the most notable to Van Pelt.
"He’s taking steps forward every single day," Van Pelt said before practice at Gillette Stadium on Thursday. "That’s the biggest thing, there’s no regression. He's taking things from the previous practice and applying them to the next practice. He’s been really impressive, the last few weeks especially."
Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo and teammates have said they've seen Maye turn a corner since last week against the Philadelphia Eagles.
