After half a century of coaching football, Nick Saban has decided to call it a career. He informed his staff at the University of Alabama on Wednesday, as first reported by ESPN’s Chris Low.
Saban, 72, is one of the greatest coaches in college football history. One of only two head coaches at the FBS level to win a National Championship at two different schools, he retires as a seven-time champion: he won a title at LSU in 2003, as well as six more during 17-year stint with the Crimson Tide.
In addition to his work in Baton Rouge and Tuscaloosa, Saban also served as head coach at Toledo and Michigan State.
