Former NFL receiver Chris Carter hasn’t said the smartest things in recent years, but it’s hard to argue with one statement he made this week.
According to FoxSports.com, Carter showed some respect for Alan Branch, who he feels is better than a former Patriots player who was pretty good.
“Only football people know his name — he’s a better Vince Wilfork than Wilfork was the last couple of years,” said Carter.
“The key to great run defense is gap control, and while Branch is also a threat in the pass defense rushing the quarterback, it’s his ability to control two gaps in the middle of the line that makes him so valuable to the Patriots,” said Carter.
