Abdul Carter looked out of reach for Patriots, but new report could change that

The New England Patriots' chances of landing Abdul Carter may have just gone up.

As first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, tests at the NFL scouting combine revealed that the prize Penn State pass rusher has a “stress reaction in his right foot” that may require surgery.

Carter’s agent Drew Rosenhaus told reporters that the defensive end is weighing surgery as an option. Rosenhaus predicted an eight-week timeline for a return to the field if Carter did undergo the procedure.

Carter is either the No. 1 or No.
