I grew up 33 miles from Schaefer/Sullivan/Foxboro Stadium.
Watching the Patriots play was often an exercise in futility.
Mind you, during my four years of high school, the Patriots won a total of 21 games, a stretch low-lighted by the 1990 season, during which New England managed to win only once. As many others will attest, it wasn’t a matter of not wanting to watch the team, despite its incompetence on the field, but rather a matter of being unable to, thanks to the NFL’s television blackout policy.
Those Patriots were known more for Lisa Olson, Victor Kiam, Eugene Chung, and the threat of moving to St.
