On February 2, 2002, the New England Patriots faced off against the St. Louis Rams at the Super Bowl XXXVI in New Orleans, Louisiana. Led by a young Tom Brady, the Patriots won the game with a final score of 20-17. During the post-game physical examination of the players, doctor Bertram Zarins—the Patriots physician at the time—asked the victorious team to sign the winning Wilson football.
