50/50

It’s fitting that in the Golden Anniversary year of the NFL’s modern championship game — with all the hype pointing toward Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, Calif., in February — the Patriots appear intent upon adding to their Super Bowl era record for 50-plus-point explosions.

The rout of the Jaguars last week marked the 12th time in franchise history the Pats have scored 50 or more points — all in wins naturally. That is the most in the Super Bowl era, by far.

Only the Chicago Bears have notched more in the history of the NFL with 13, but only two of those came during the Super Bowl era.
