2021 NFL roster cuts: Patriots reportedly release safety Adrian Colbert

The road from 80 to 53 began Monday afternoon for the New England Patriots with the release of veteran safety Adrian Colbert, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Colbert, 27, signed in May and had played 86 snaps on defense to go with 19 snaps on special teams during New England’s preseason, intercepting one pass.

The former Texas Longhorn and Miami Hurricane entered the NFL in the seventh round of the 2017 draft. He has also been a member of the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants since then.
