The New England Patriots might not have WR Julian Edelman for the first four games of the 2018 season. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Edelman is facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's PED policy.
The suspension is currently under appeal, so there's a chance Edelman wins and isn't suspended at all. Schefter reports Edelman has taken hundreds of tests before this one without failing.
It's not clear what in particular caused the suspension, beyond that it's a performance-enhancing drug issue. If suspended, Edelman would lose about $470k in salary.
Edelamn missed all of last year with a torn ACL, but the 32-year-old was set to return as one of Tom Brady's top weapons this year.
