Gronk has recently stated that he plans to play in 2018, but may be looking for an increase in salary. Currently, Gronk is the fifth highest paid tight end in the NFL behind Jimmy Graham, Travis Kelce, Trey Burton, and Jordan Reed. Many would argue that Gronk is the league's best tight end and deserves to be the highest paid player at his position.
Gronk has surpassed 1,000 yards in three of the last four seasons and was dominant in 2017 hauling in 69 receptions for 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns.
