The Cincinnati Bengals don't make trades very often, but they completed one with the New England Patriots Tuesday morning. The Bengals have sent LB Marquis Flowers to the Patriots for a 7th round pick.
Flowers, a 2014 6th round pick, has served mostly on special teams in his NFL career. He will likely continue to serve that role with the Patriots. As the Cincinnati Enquirer pointed out when it first reported the news, Bill Belichick mentioned Flowers by name when discussing the Bengals' special teams last year.

The Bengals have some solid LB depth, even with the pending suspension of LB Vontaze Burfict. The trade of Flowers could also open up a roster spot for rookie UDFA Hardy Nickerson, Jr. The son of the former NFL All-Pro LB, Nickerson has fared well in the preseason. The 7th round pick the Bengals are getting back will surely be one of the last ones in the round.
