New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo was carted off the field with a knee injury during the second quarter of the Pats' 37-22 win over the Buffalo Bills.

Per Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal, Mayo was seen on crutches after the game:

According to Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, "Mayo, a captain and signal-caller on defense, was immediately surrounded by teammates after a Boobie Dixon run up the middle on first down, as he wound up on the bottom of the pile. Patriots coach Bill Belichick also came over from the sideline, reflecting the initial reaction that the injury was serious."

It seems as if that initial thought could prove true with Mayo hobbled on crutches immediately after the game.

If Mayo goes down with what several sources suspect to be a torn ACL, it will mark the second-straight season that he has gone down with a season-ending injury. Mayo tore a pectoral muscle in mid-October of 2013, sidelining him for the remainder of the campaign.
