In this Patriots news and rumors update, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is currently listed as questionable for Sunday's season opener against the Miami Dolphins due to a calf injury.
According to Mike Florio of NBC's Pro Football Talk, "like teammate Rob Gronkowski, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has said he’ll be ready to play on Sunday. And as with Gronk, the official word on Brady’s availability from the team is “maybe."
Gronkowski's knee injury has been well-documented throughout the offseason, so it would be not too surprising if he is held out of the opener for precautionary reasons.
However, Brady's absence would come as a shocking development for a quarterback who regularly plays through his share of listed injuries - especially since so little is known about the nature of how he was injured in the first place and the severity of said injury.
"Physically I had the day off, but I got a lot of extra film in,” Brady said to Jim Gray of Westwood One on Thursday, via Florio's post on Friday. “I got a lot of extra mental reps in and walk-throughs and such and I’ll be ready to go Sunday.”
