HBO’s TV show “Hard Knocks” follows an NFL team throughout training camp and the preseason every year, often giving a boost in popularity to the team that volunteers to be featured. Here’s why the New England Patriots are perfect for the show this year:
4) Rob Gronkowski
Gronk is not only one of the Patriots' best players, he's also perhaps the most entertaining character in the league off the field. If Hard Knocks centered the entire show around Gronk's shenanigans, no one would complain.
3) Jimmy Garoppolo's preparation
The second-year man out of Eastern Illinois will (probably) be the Patriots' opening day starter after Tom Brady was suspended for four games (he's appealing) for his role in the "Deflategate" scandal. It's been a very long time since the Patriots had anyone other than Tom Brady under center, and watching how the team tries to prepare Garoppolo for his big moment will be fascinating for football fans.
2) Bill Belichick
Belichick would make this year’s Hard Knocks the most intriguing and most viewed in the series’ history. Not only would we get a close up look "under the hoodie" into his secretive coaching philosophy, we'd also get to see him in an atmosphere outside of football - something people rarely see.
1) Watching the Patriots fight "Deflategate"
It appears that New England is in for a a long fight with the NFL surrounding the findings and punishments handed down in the "Deflategate" scandal, making for what would be an intriguing storyline throughout the entire season of Hard Knocks.
