The New England Patriots have been the best team in the AFC all season, and after a bye week, will start their playoff journey this weekend against the Texans. Here are three reasons why the Patriots are guaranteed to win this weekend:
3) Houston's atrocious offense
Osweiler was benched in favor of Tom Savage due to his struggles all season, completing just 59.0 percent of his passes for 15 touchdowns and 16 interceptions, and has been playing his worst football in the month of December. He also doesn't stretch the field, averaging just 5.8 yards per attempt during the regular season.
His poor play has really limited the Texans all season, and the Patriots proved they had a great gameplan for him by shutting them out in their regular season meeting.
2) Home-field advantage
It's already virtually impossible to beat the Patriots in the postseason, but it's even more impossible to beat them in Foxborough. They are 7-1 in divisional round games at home and are 16-4 overall, the highest winning percentage among teams who have played in at least 10 home games. As long as Bill Belichick and Tom Brady are in town, that isn't changing anytime soon.
1) Tom Brady
Having one of the best QB in the NFL makes it easier to win in the playoffs. That's the case for New England and Tom Brady, who is the top QB in the NFL. Brady's in the midst of a great season, despite several injuries to his weapons and being limited by his suspension. He threw for 3,554 yards with 28 touchdowns and just two picks, the best TD-to-INT ratio in league history. With Brady at the helm, the Patriots are the favorite to lift yet another Lombardi Trophy.
