The New England Patriots start their quest for their fifth Super Bowl ring on Saturday against the Chiefs. Though Kansas City has won 11 games in a row, the Patriots are the defending champs for a reason. Here are three reasons why they're guaranteed to beat the Chiefs this weekend:
3) Defensive improvement
The Patriots' weakness this season was supposed to be their defense, but that wasn't the case. New England pieced together a top 10 defense despite several injuries, and the secondary has been downright great at times as this year. They will make life miserable for Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith, which in turn will render Kansas City's offense ineffective.
2) Tommy Terrific
Quarterback is the most important position in football, and the Patriots, who always have the advantage in this category, have a big one over the Chiefs. Tom Brady has been on the top of his game again this year, completing 64.4 percent of his passes for 4,770 yards with 36 touchdowns and seven picks. Kansas City's defense is one of the best in the league, but Brady has seen anything and everything a defense can throw at him. With the return of Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski, Brady has the ability to shred them - and he will.
1) The Bill Belichick Advantage
There isn't a better coach in the NFL than Bill Belichick. He has his haters (just like the Patriots in general), but Belichick is an NFL mastermind, consistently putting his players in the best positions to succeed and always gets the most out of them. Belichick won't be out-coached at any point in the playoffs, let alone for a game he has had two weeks to prepare for.
