The most notable new player for the Nevada women’s basketball team also turned out to be the top newcomer in the entire Mountain West.
Wolf Pack graduate transfer Kylie Jimenez was named the Mountain West preseason newcomer of the year, the conference announced last week during its annual basketball media summit. Also at the event, Nevada was picked to finish eighth in the 11-team conference.
Jimenez is the sister of Wolf Pack guard Alyssa Jimenez. Both played at Horizon (Thornton, Colo.).
Kylie Jimenez was a four-year player at Portland State, where she made 122 starts. Among her honors with the Vikings were Big Sky freshman of the year, All-Big Sky third team (twice), and a spot on the 2019 All-Big Sky tournament team.
