The Rebels rallied to win round 1.
Visiting UNLV hit eight of its 11 fourth-quarter shots to edge Nevada, 78-75, in Mountain West women’s basketball action Saturday afternoon.
The Wolf Pack led, 61-56, through three quarters, but the Rebels finished with a 22-14 edge in the final quarter. A 14-2 run put UNLV in front, 70-65, with Nevada never able to get closer than two points after that.
UNLV improved to 15-4 overall and 7-1 in MW games. The loss was Nevada’s first in conference play; the Pack is now 12-5, 4-1.
Amaya West and Kylie Jimenez each scored 13 points (including three 3-pointers) to lead Nevada.
